Neighborhood Spotlight: Hyde Park

Hyde Park is a luxury condo community located just four blocks from the Ballston Metro station. It is also Ballston’s first condominium. Originally built as luxury rental apartments, construction of Hyde Park began in 1972, and the 12-story building opened in 1974. In 1980, the building was converted into condominiums and remains one of the area’s most popular destinations.

Hyde Park covers about four acres, including a second-story outdoor plaza that also serves as a green roof for the community’s three-level parking garage (guest parking is also available). In addition, Hyde Park offers 24/7 secretarial services, a night-time security guard, swimming and wading pools, and washers and dryers on the residential floors of the building for residents’ convenience.

In addition to luxury living, Hyde Park earns a walk score of 80, or “very walkable.” More than a dozen restaurants are within a half mile of Hyde Park, including local favorites Rock Bottom and Rustico. If you’re in the mood for Afghan, Italian, Chinese, Caribbean, or Indian cuisine, you’re in luck…all are within blocks of Hyde Park. The Ballston Common Mall is also a stone’s throw from the building, where you can eat, shop, and drink to your heart’s content. Harris Teeter is also across the street, making grocery shopping a breeze. When you live in Hyde Park, you can leave your car in the garage and still enjoy all that Ballston has to offer.
